AVIF is a next-generation image format based on the AV1 video codec. It often produces files half the size of JPG with better detail, and supports HDR and transparency.

JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep photos small.

The conversion runs on your device using jSquash (MozJPEG, OxiPNG, libwebp, libavif and libjxl) compiled to WebAssembly. You can adjust: quality, max width, max height, rotate, flip, background.
