About the formats

HEIC · High Efficiency Image Format

HEIC (or HEIF) is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It stores photos at about half the size of JPG, but many apps, websites and Windows PCs cannot open it.

TIFF · Tagged Image File Format

TIFF is a high-quality image format used in printing, scanning, photography and publishing. Files are usually large and often lossless.

The conversion runs on your device using jSquash (MozJPEG, OxiPNG, libwebp, libavif and libjxl) compiled to WebAssembly. For the best result it goes through PNG on the way, which happens automatically. You can adjust: max width, max height, rotate, flip.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEIC to TIFF?

Drop your HEIC files onto the page, or click “Choose files”. You can add many at once, or a whole folder. TIFF is already selected as the output. Optionally open Options to adjust max width, max height, rotate. Click Convert, then Save. Converting several files? Save them all as one ZIP.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, so it is safe for private photos, contracts and business data. Once the page has loaded it even works offline.

Will converting HEIC to TIFF reduce quality?

No. Both HEIC and TIFF keep full quality, so the conversion is lossless.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files to TIFF at once?

Yes. Add as many HEIC files as you like; they are converted in parallel on your device and you can download them all as a single ZIP.

Is it free? Are there limits?

It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits. Because nothing is uploaded there is no upload size limit either; the only limit is your device’s memory, which matters mostly for very large videos.

Why can’t I open HEIC photos on Windows or upload them to websites?

HEIC needs a separate codec on Windows, and most websites only accept JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG makes your iPhone photos work everywhere.

How do I stop my iPhone saving photos as HEIC?

On your iPhone go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose “Most Compatible”. New photos will then be saved as JPG.
